Oh Lana
I first discovered this haunting beauty when I was looking for the perfect song to use in my diamond life interview for shine training. It was a remix of her song and there was just something eery and intriguing about it. It worked and soon after that I started to hear her name incessantly. She was what they call an over night success, well at least on the internet. Now she has one of the most highly anticipated albums of 2012 and I was so curious to see how she gained so much hype so fast?
Check out this interview she did with GQ magazine. She explains in her own shy and awkward way her struggles and triumphs in the music industry and how she really wasn’t this overnight success. She seems to be blown away by all the attention, and genuinely believes her success came before the hype and the music, it came with the acceptance of herself. For someone as beautiful as she is you would think fame would come easily, which on some levels it has. But the refreshing thing about Lana is that she seems to be ok with a life without that fame, and purely just wanted to make music. She also doesn’t like that music video she created for ‘video games’ as it has portrayed her in a way that is false. Regardless of how she got to where she is now one thing is true, she did it herself and on her own terms. And that is something I admire and something all artists should strive for.
